SUSPENDED CHORDS

SUSPENDED CHORDS
This section shows the conventional suspended chord shapes commonly used on guitar. Suspended chords replace the third of the chord with either a second (sus2) or a fourth (sus4), creating an open, unresolved sound.
Some of these shapes use open strings and stay in fixed positions, while others are movable. By understanding the shape and its intervals, you can use suspended chords to add tension, color, and movement to progressions, often resolving naturally to major or minor chords.
Suspended chords are widely used in rock, folk, pop, and acoustic playing, and are a simple way to add expression and variety to familiar chord shapes.
