POWER CHORDS
This section shows power chord shapes, built from the root and the fifth. In these diagrams, the power chords are shown with the octave added, played using finger 4, which is a very common and practical fingering.
However, the octave is optional, a power chord can be played using only the root and the fifth, without finger 4, and it will still function as a power chord. Both versions are correct and widely used, depending on the musical context and playing style.
Power chords are movable shapes, making them easy to shift across the fretboard and use in any key while keeping the same fingering and sound character.
